From Lori’s Laptop, January 2016

A letter from Executive Director, Lori Fascilla

The difference that a positive early childhood experience and education makes lasts a lifetime. Without all of you we wouldn’t be able to do the work we do of impacting little lives daily. Our community and our world grows stronger when every child has opportunities that ensure a bright future for them. Healthy households, decent food, strong parenting and early education all contribute to strong futures.

Giraffe Laugh families and staff have been so blessed in 2015 by so many of you. As I look back I’m amazed by the incredible generosity but also events that took place that secured the future for so many children and families here in Idaho.

The opening of a new center is no small feat. There were moments of intense joy and moments of tearful pleas (mostly with the City over fees) but it happened. We are proudest of the moment we cut the ribbon on a new beginning for so many children in need. Without our programs they might not ever have access to quality early care and education.

The Futures Begin Here Luncheon was a wonderful success and allows us to plan ahead to begin the hard work of finding new and creative solutions to the 550 children on our waiting list who are aging off every day. We are in the planning stages again and invite all of you to participate in a stakeholder survey or focus group to help guide our future plans and goals in the coming year. Please watch for those opportunities and welcome to 2016, a brand new beginning.
